- Rotterdam workshop (27 and 28 May 2026) summary
IPCSA has concluded its three-part Foresight series with a final workshop held in Rotterdam, bringing together members from Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and the Americas to explore the future of Port Community Systems in an increasingly volatile global environment. Building on earlier sessions in Dubai and Casablanca, participants examined scenarios ranging from restricted trade to fully integrated global data sharing, with a strong focus on the implications of AI, cybersecurity, and the need for high-quality, consistent data. Hosted by Portbase and supported by the Port of Rotterdam, the workshop emphasised the role of Port Community Systems as trusted, neutral platforms capable of enhancing resilience and enabling smarter, more agile supply chains. The conclusion was clear: despite uncertainty, PCS organisations are well positioned to turn disruption into opportunity by leveraging data, strengthening collaboration, and continuously adapting their services to meet future trade and logistics challenges.

- Casablanca workshop (21 and 22 May 2025) summary
The second IPCSA Foresight Workshop, centered around the theme “Dealing with Unpredictability in a Predictable Fashion,” has recently concluded with great success. The intensive two-day workshop, held in Casablanca, was hosted and sponsored by Morocco’s Single Window operator, Portnet. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Youssef Ahouzi and the entire Portnet Team for their outstanding hospitality and support. Hosting this workshop in the vibrant city of Casablanca was an honor and a delight. Their generous sponsorship and flawless organisation were pivotal to the event’s success.

IPCSA Foresight initiative aims to assess potential future scenarios and develop a framework to guide IPCSA member organisations in the years ahead. The inaugural two-day workshop took place in Dubai, generously sponsored by IPCSA member Kale Logistics Solutions.The sessions focused on understanding the dynamics of change, identifying critical issues, and evaluating high-impact uncertainties. This initiative seeks to explore the future landscape of Port Community Systems (PCS) and Single Windows (SW), with a vision extending to the year 2040. Facilitator Will Sambrook from Akenham opened the discussions by emphasizing the importance of exploration and preparation: “We cannot predict the future, but we can explore, anticipate, and prepare. We certainly can’t predict the future of PCS and SW. Instead, we have to think about what futures might exist, then we can think about what role PCS operators might play in those scenarios.”
